Product warranty replacement of non-Detector Inspector smoke alarms in Queensland

In Queensland, as a Detector Inspector subscription customer, we will complete product warranty replacement of non-Detector Inspector smoke alarms with no call-out fees and no charge for replacement alarms, provided the faulty alarm is in the manufacturer's product warranty period and the owner’s subscription is current.

If the manufacturer's warranty period has expired, we will provide a quotation for the replacement of expired smoke alarms or alarms that become faulty.

Our technicians are carrying a certain quantity of these alarms with them so they can replace any faulty/expired alarms on the spot. If we can't replace it on the spot, will re-attend the property.


Examples of alarms not covered under warranty

Ant infested alarm

This alarm has been compromised by an ant infestation, visible through the numerous ants within its sensors and openings on the casing. Such damage caused by pests infiltrating the device is not categorised as a manufacturing defect, and therefore, is not covered under warranty.

Tampered alarm
This alarm has clear signs of tampering, indicating that someone has forced entry into the interior of the device. Such damage caused by unauthorised tampering is not categorised as a manufacturing defect, and therefore, is not covered under warranty. Tenants should not attempt to force entry into the interior of the alarm under any circumstances.

Filthy alarm
This smoke alarm is visibly dirty and could have been caused by a number of factors, including incorrect storage, proximity to a kitchen, exposure to bug spray, or indoor smoking/incense burning. Such damage caused by external factors is not categorised as a manufacturing defect, and therefore, is not covered under warranty.

Broken alarm
This alarm has been damaged or tampered with, as evidenced by the fact that it has been forcibly opened, disconnecting the sensor from the siren. Such damage caused by unauthorised tampering is not categorised as a manufacturing defect and, therefore, is not covered under warranty.

Dirty alarm
This smoke alarm is visibly dirty and has not been maintained, covered with a layer of dust and grime that could potentially interfere with its functionality. The accumulation of dirt indicates neglect in regular cleaning and maintenance. If the alarm malfunctions due to this negligence, the warranty may not apply.

Bug infested alarm
This alarm has clearly not been maintained as the interior of the alarm is full of dead insects. Such damage caused by lack of maintenance is not categorised as a manufacturing defect, and therefore, is not covered under warranty.

  • An alarm that fails to detect smoke
  • An alarm that fails to siren
  • An alarm siren that fails to achieve 85db from 3 meters away
  • An alarm that has faulty battery terminals
  • An alarm that has an inoperable test button
  • An alarm that has a faulty light
  • An alarm that constantly beeps unwarrantedly
  • Faulty material or workmanship
