My hot water is running out quickly

Hot water is an essential commodity in our daily lives, whether it's for a refreshing shower, a soothing bath, or washing dishes. However, many tenants often find themselves frustrated when running out of hot water.

But fear not! In this article, we will dive into the major factors that contribute to the quick depletion of hot water.

Tank Capacity

While tankless water heaters provide an endless supply of hot water, tank-based systems have a specific capacity. If you're experiencing a sudden decrease in hot water availability, your tank's size could be a contributing factor. If your hot water system's tank capacity is insufficient for the current demand, consider upgrading to a larger capacity system or exploring alternative solutions like an instantaneous HWS.

Water runs roughly at 9 litres per minute to be considered water efficient. Based on your tank capacity you should be able to work out how many minutes the hot water will last. If you are not using a water-efficient shower head, consumption will be much quicker.

Usage Patterns
Factors such as the number of occupants in your home, shower duration, frequency of dishwashing or laundry, and other activities impact how quickly your tank is depleted. By evaluating your usage patterns, you can uncover practical strategies to optimise hot water usage without compromising your comfort or daily routines.
Leaks
Inspect your hot water system and surrounding pipes for any visible leaks.
Leaks can result in loss of hot water and reduced duration.
