Voltage Polarity Compliance - AS/NZS 3019:2007

The following information is from AS/NZS 3019:2007

4.2 General

(c) Conductors of cables are correctly identified and are connected to the correct terminals of fittings;

(j) Exposed metal liable to become alive is connected to earth.

4.7.3 Polarity and correct connections

Polarity testing shall be performed to the extent that it is reasonably practical, with any significant omission being reported. Testing is intended to confirm the following:

(a) Every single-pole switch or protective device of the electrical installation operates in the active conductor of the circuit in which it is connected; and

(b) Every RCD operates in the active conductor of the circuit(s) to which it is connected, and in the neutral conductor as specified in AS/NZS 3000.
